Data format and leaving

Where Forsion keeps your data, what format each file is in, and how to open it without Forsion.

AI conversations and agent memory

On desktop, local conversations are stored in a database in Forsion's data folder on your computer (~/.forsion/tangu). Each agent's memory is a set of Markdown files in that folder that you can open and edit. Without an account, all of this stays on your computer; once you sign in, memories and logs sync to your account after each turn.

If you stop using Forsion

  • Your notes, databases and whiteboards are all in your vault folder. Copy it; there is no export step.
  • AI conversations and agent memory are in Forsion's data folder (~/.forsion/tangu). Back that folder up too if you want to keep them.
  • Open .md notes in any text editor or in Obsidian.
  • Keep drawing .excalidraw.md whiteboards in Obsidian with the Excalidraw plugin.
  • .db databases are JSON text that any text editor or script can read, but the structure is Forsion's own, so other apps will not show them as tables.
  • When you sign in on desktop, the cloud vault syncs to a local folder that you can copy the same way.
